It’s time for an iPhone update again: Apple releases iOS version 16.1.2. In addition to bug fixes and security updates, the fall detection of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro will be improved. Compatibility with mobile phone providers has also been tightened. It is generally more of a selective update in preparation for version 16.2, which will be released soon.
The new version is available for download since yesterday, November 30th. To do this, navigate to the settings and type under General
on software update
to download iOS 16.1.2.

The manufacturer from Cupertino does not go into further information about the security updates and bug fixes. The release notes state:
- Improved compatibility with mobile operators
- Improved crash detection on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models
Since the launch of accident detection, there have been some issues and users have reported unintentional activations of this feature, for example on a roller coaster ride. In general, the feature was developed by Apple to trigger an emergency SOS and thus alert the rescue services.
It remains to be seen whether unintentional activations of fall detection will be a thing of the past after this update. In the latest beta version of iOS 16.2, the manufacturer added a function to report such errors.
Unlike this update, iOS 16.2 will have more features. One of them is the Freeform app, which is a large digital whiteboard. Also, live activities will be improved. You can find more information about the upcoming version here:
