With iOS 17, Apple could expand its portfolio with smart displays. The big update is supposed to turn the iPhone into an Echo Show.

Apple offers a smart speaker with the HomePod. Unlike Amazon (Echo Show) and Google (Nest Home Hub), the manufacturer from Cupertino does not offer a smart display as a control center. Apparently, the iPhone should now fill this gap after the update to iOS 17.
How Bloomberg citing reliable sources, the new OS is said to include a lock screen that shows you the weather, notifications and calendar items in a smart display style once the phone is locked and in a horizontal position. Amazon, for example, already offers something similar with the Echo Show mode on its Fire tablets.

Apple is currently working on iOS 17 and a release is expected for the third quarter of 2023. Here we collect all important information about the software update.
Apple may also extend the feature to the iPad. However, the implementation will probably take longer here. But it would probably be the better choice because of the size. However, Apple has already removed the ability of the tablet PC with iOS 16 to act as a control center for HomeKit.
We will soon learn more about iOS 17. On June 5th, Apple will hold its developer conference WWDC. There, the manufacturer from Cupertino will also give a first look at the iPhone update.
