Apple’s new operating system iOS 16 is currently in the beta phase, but developers can already test it. One of them recently discovered a feature that gamers and Nintendo fans in particular will be happy about: With iOS 16, Joy-Cons, i.e. the switch controllers, will be compatible with iPhone and iPad.
The app developer has that metals found out and shared on Twitter. It is no coincidence that this developer made the find. He is currently working on an emulator for Nintendo games that runs on Apple devices. You can see his tweet about the Joy Cons here:

Its emulator called Delta
However, you will not find it in the App Store, but only in the so-called AltStore. So the emulator has no license from Apple.
Joy Con integration works flawlessly
Back to the Joy-Cons on iOS 16: According to Riley, the integration in the current beta phase of iOS 16 has already been more than successful. The controllers connect perfectly and control the games with their own emulator as desired.
It is even possible to connect the individual Joy-Cons. So two players can gamble on iOS with just one Joy-Con. According to Riles, you can even switch between modes smoothly. So either use the left and right Joy-Con as one controller or as two separate ones.
As soon as the new operating system is available to everyone, you can use your Nintendo Switch controller on iOS. In contrast to other controllers, you can easily take the Joy Cons with you on the go because they are comparatively small. Test run for Apple’s own handheld console?
We recently reported that Apple would like to delve deeper into the gaming business in the future. As part of this, Apple has filed a patent for a controller that is very similar to Nintendo’s Joy-Cons. Because it also consists of two separate controls that can be attached to the side of the iPhone or iPad.
Since the functionality is quite similar, Apple could use the integration of the Joy-Cons as a kind of test run to see how such a concept works on iOS. If you also want to use Joy-Cons on your iPhone or iPad, you still have to wait for iOS 16. This will most likely be rolled out to all users in September 2022.
Do you have Joy-Cons at home that you will use with an iPhone or iPad? Thanks to their slim size, are they an alternative to other controllers? Please let us know.
