It doesn’t happen often, but it can happen that your Apple smartphone shows the wrong time. We’ll explain what you can do in such a case.
- To ensure that the current time is always available, iPhones access it via a time server.
- Sometimes it can happen that automatic time synchronization is turned off.
- You should then go to the settings to reactivate the function and display the current time.
Apple is one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers for a reason. The devices are considered durable and robust – not only from a hardware perspective, but also in terms of their software. And yet it can sometimes happen that unexpected errors occur – such as an incorrect time. If this happens to your iPhone, we have a few solutions here.
Similar to Android devices, iPhones also access a so-called NTP server, i.e. a time server, in order to always obtain the current time for the respective time zone. The time zone is obtained either from the mobile provider or the location. By default, the device settings specify that the iPhone should set the time automatically and also determine the time zone independently.
This is how you get your iPhone to show the correct time
However, sometimes this option may be disabled. But you can reactivate it in the settings. To do this, open the Settings app and go to “General”. Then tap on the menu item “Date and time”. A menu will open in which you should activate the “Set automatically” option.
Is this option already activated and your time is still displayed incorrectly? You can then set this manually by deactivating the “Set automatically” option and setting the correct time yourself.
