iPhone successor postponed indefinitely

indefinitely, iPhone, postponed, Successor

What will come after the smartphone? According to a new Report by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman the answer is clear to Apple and they’ve been working on it for some time.

We are talking about glasses that are not only based on virtual reality, but should also interact with the real world. Such glasses should offer a variety of functions, including voice control and the ability to display information and notifications directly in the user’s field of vision.

It should also be possible to communicate with a smartphone. There is even speculation as to whether glasses could even completely replace smartphones in the future. But despite all the hopes, such a product will probably remain a thing of the future in the Apple cosmos for the time being.

Release: Apple’s AR glasses reportedly postponed indefinitely

According to the Bloomberg report, the glasses of the future were originally planned for 2023, but were then pushed to 2025. Now Apple is said to have postponed the project indefinitely.

So far, Google Glasses has not been a signpost for the private use of such glasses.

The ambitious goal was to develop glasses for everyday use. It should come close to the concept of Google Glasses and be particularly light. However, they failed to develop the appropriate performance, software and battery life for the device with today’s technology – all components that have to be optimized for everyday use.

Now the group is probably taking consequences and reducing work on the product, which, according to the report linked in the introduction, was already considered an iPhone replacement. Apple’s focus now is to make an intermediate product.

A cheaper mixed reality glasses from Apple should come

Instead of the Apple Glasses, the manufacturer from Cupertino is pursuing the goal of bringing “affordable” mixed reality glasses onto the market by 2025 at the latest. The cheaper AR/VR glasses should match the performance of the iPhone chips installed in the future and have cheaper components in order to be able to keep up with the competition in terms of price. In terms of price, these glasses should be based on the $1,500 mark.

The planned model for 2023, on the other hand, should be aimed at the professional sector and will hit the market with a price tag of around $3,000. According to a report, it could be as early as spring that we will see the first version from Apple.

Mark Gurman describes the specifications of this year’s glasses with the performance of a Mac series M2 chip. The high price is also said to be due to the “most advanced” displays and ten high-quality cameras and sensors that track the user’s field of vision.

When and if we will see the successor to these mixed reality glasses – the Apple Glasses – is still in the stars. Internal employees involved in the project do not believe that it will ever be released. However, the competition never sleeps. Google and Meta are also working on compact AR glasses that should be used in everyday life.
