Is Intel already giving up the race for graphics cards?

cards, Giving, graphics, Intel, Race

While Intel appeared to want to actively participate in the graphics card race, new information seems to confirm the opposite. Explanations.

While tech enthusiasts are currently waiting for the first Intel Arc A580, A750 and A770 graphics cards from resellers, which primarily have to compete with Nvidia’s entry-level range, the American manufacturer seems to want to give up the race.

A crucial decision at Intel?

The information comes from Moore’s Law is dead which is indeed common. In particular, the whistleblower states (and with some sadness) that Intel will cease its graphics card production operations after the release of its second generation on behalf of Battlemage. As we established in 2021 there should be essentially 4 generations of GPUs: Alchemist, Battlemage, Celestial and Druid. We should therefore draw a line under Celestial and Druid. The decision, which seems rather strange especially for a manufacturer as recognized as Intel, would come with a higher than expected cost and performance falling short of the American giant’s forecasts and targets. Meanwhile, Intel is trimming down its releases and appears to be focusing on the entry-level/mid-range.

Information to be picked up with tweezers?

However, Intel engineer Raja Koduri stated that he did not understand the basis of the rumors and clarified on his Twitter account:

They’re not helping the team working hard to get them to market, they’re not helping the PC graphics community… one has to wonder who are they helping? … we are still the first generation and yes we had more hurdles to overcome than expected but we persevered….

Then to see.
