I have mixed feelings about Early Access mode. It’s a great way for studios to get their projects off the ground, and in an era of bloated budgets and lengthy development cycles, it’s a much-needed part of the funding mix. But as a consumer, you’re essentially paying to be a game tester. So while I’m glad it exists as one of the ways to make games in the first place, I find it very unappealing as a proposition.
However, there are also times, such as the recent early access to Baldur’s Gate 3, when it works extremely well for both players and creators. Given that No Rest for the Wicked is equally ambitious in scope, and will potentially offer massive and endless replayability after version 1.0 is released, is it worth jumping in early?
What exactly is it? Soul type? Diablo clone? Roguelite? For the video above, I spoke with site writer Sherif Saed, who has been testing the game for weeks to find out what exactly is wrong.
