The last time the Japanese manufacturer spoke, it was for a State of Play where Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, was finally made official. God of War Kratos actor speaks out
A PlayStation Showcase in December 2024? That's theory one Promotional video “Play Has No Limits” published on the manufacturer’s YouTube channel. The date of December 3rd is highlighted, which for some is a foretaste of an event celebrating the brand's 30th anniversary. A few days ago, a so-called leak of a potential PlayStation Showcase made headlines in the 4Chan forums. A place not really known for the accuracy of its information.
According to this post, Days Gone Remastered and a God of War Greece Legend remake collection with Ghost of Sparta and Ascension could be announced there. Rumors that are not entirely new. As for the Days Gone remaster, for example, much more reputable sources such as VGC and Jeff Grubb have indicated that such a project is indeed in the works. On the subject of God of War, there were also rumors about a God of War remaster trilogy to be developed by Nixxes Software. A compilation that could therefore end up on PC but that would affect PS2 and PSP games.
According to this 4Chan report, there will also be a mobile game God of War: Betrayal in 2025. There is no doubt that a new GOW title is in the pipeline after the job offers from Santa Monica. But whether there will be a mobile sequel is another question, especially after Sony recently backtracked in this area. He would have teased “multiple ads” all about God of War in the next two weeks. So possibly during a PlayStation Showcase.
PlayStation prepares announcements… but no showcase?
But the actor, known for his role as Teal'c in Stargate SG-1, strongly denies this, although a Santa Monica host strangely retweeted the rumor. « This is absolutely wrong! You can't tease something you don't know about. I will be making announcements soon and I can guarantee that none of them will involve our beloved God of War ».
Beyond 4Chan's post, which should definitely not be taken at face value, this rumor about a PlayStation Showcase has already been commented on recently. According to journalist Jeff Grubb, there is little chance of witnessing such an event. « I haven't heard anything about a PlayStation Showcase or State of Play in December » He explained on his
Today it is the French leaker billbil_kun who comes into play with a puzzling message. « Will there really be a PlayStation event soon? I don't have an answer, but there's a lot going on behind the scenes. New news is coming… ». What is he referring to? Obviously not a PlayStation Showcase. Has he heard about any game announcements or the airing of trailers for exclusive titles at the 2024 Game Awards? It's hard to say, but according to Kurakisis, Marvel's Wolverine could arrive by the end of the year.
