2025 will bring many highly anticipated adaptations, but few have as much hype as The Last of Us Part 2. The highly anticipated second season of the HBO-produced series will introduce new actors and characters, including Isabela Merced like Dina.
In an interview with the American media Total FilmThe Peruvian-born actress spoke at length about her character in the HBO series and how, despite being a fictional character who lives in a post-apocalyptic world, they have many things in common.
“Dina is kind of a light in Ellie’s life. I think that’s the general consensus, because if you look at the game, she’s the only one that actually gets a decent end ing. I love, more than anything, being that light for people in my life. I like making them laugh and understanding themselves better. I just like helping out in general. I think Dina is a lot like my personality. I think we’re both pretty silly, and I think maybe I would deal with the apocalypse in a similar way if I was in it.”
As Merced tells it, whenever she can she tries to cheer up her closest friends and colleagues, and that naturalness with which she seeks to be a good person is reflected in Dina’s soul and body throughout The Last of Us Part 2, where she is one of the few main characters who does not end up in a spiral of hatred and violence.
It remains to be seen how his character develops in the live-action series, but given the great relationship he has with Bella Ramsey, it is likely that the very special symbiosis we saw in the video game can be best reflected in the HBO adaptation. The second season of The Last of Us will arrive on Warner’s platform sometime in 2025.
