It doesn’t get any more expensive? Oh but!

When it comes to the prices for current graphics cards from AMD (RX 6000) and Nvidia (RTX 3000), only one question has long arisen: when will the end of the fact that they keep rising and rising? Unfortunately, our current analysis does not show any trend that would go in this direction, on the contrary.

There are only high-end prices: Even the “cheapest” current model in the form of the Geforce RTX 3060 is currently changing hands on Ebay for an average of almost 800 dollars, the RTX 3080 is approaching the mark of 2,000 dollars and the RTX 3090 has reached over 2,500 dollars.

The situation is not quite as extreme for AMD graphics cards, but here too the cheapest current GPU costs around 800 dollars, while the top models are in the four-digit range. As a reminder: In the last GPU generations from AMD and Nvidia, the RTX 2080 Ti was the only model in this price range, but most graphics cards are currently so expensive.

Current graphics card prices in the overview

On average, the price for a new graphics card from AMD and Nvidia on Ebay is a whopping 1,375 dollars. In regular trading, the costs are even higher.

Price / performance ratio in comparison: With the exception of the RTX 3060, all AMD graphics cards deliver more FPS per euro compared to the Nvidia GPUs – at least if you leave out the ray tracing performance and the DLSS factor.

Price development: How good it was in 2020

As early as November 2020, many gamers were annoyed about the high prices for the new graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia. Almost 1,100 dollars for an RTX 3080 sounds like a real bargain from today’s perspective – it currently costs around 77 percent more.

The worst hit was the RTX 3070:

Your price on Ebay has increased by about 85 percent since November 2020, according to our data. At that time it was around 670 dollars, but today the RTX 3070 on Ebay costs an average of almost 1,250 dollars.

In terms of price development, AMD is not as bad as Nvidia, but the situation does not look rosy here either. If you need a new graphics card but are not ready to pay such high sums of money, you might want to take a look at older GPUs, as the following article shows:
