news culture “It Gave Me Goosebumps” Those 6 seconds of “Avengers: Endgame” pissed off this director
The next MCU Phase 5 film is The Marvels, slated for release next November, and dedicated 100% to the female superheroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This project is being directed by Nia DaCosta, who has had a desire to direct an all-female Marvel feature since Avengers: Endgame and one of its sequences in particular.
100% Superheroines
While Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 has just hit theaters, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe who have already seen this film should already be looking forward to the year-end release of The Marvels. The second chapter is dedicated to Carol Danvers. This feature will also feature Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, who made her debut in her own series, as well as Monica Rambeau, a character who also wears the Captain Marvel costume.
The trailer for this new feature film had already announced the color: “The Marvels” will be a film dedicated exclusively to female characters. A rather rare fact in the MCU, which nevertheless occurs more and more frequently. Because yes, the Marvel Universe is full of female superheroes who deserve audiovisual adaptations. Nia DaCosta already understood this when Avengers: Endgame was released.
A sequence that is as pleasant as it is frustrating
For Nia DaCosta, it’s clear that Marvel Studios had to dedicate a feature film to its female superheroes. The young American director realized that when she saw Avengers: Endgame, as she explained last year Weekly entertainment
Like many women around the world, I’ve seen Avengers: Endgame and those 6 seconds of all the women of Marvel together. It gave me goosebumps, but I was also frustrated at the same time. I said, “Please give us two hours like this.” So it’s really good that they decided to do a team film with three of my favorite heroines.
Nia DaCosta is referring to the “six seconds” in which all of the Marvel heroines featured in the MCU band together to assist the Avengers in their final battle against the horrific Thanos. The moment is epic, of course, but relatively brief, as the filmmaker fondly recalls. This time she has the opportunity to do justice to these characters. See you on November 8th to discover The Marvels in cinemas.
