It’s been over two years since Kingdom Hearts 4 was released, but apparently no one took the time to tell Sora’s English voice actor, Haley Joel Osment.
Back in April 2022, on the 20th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix finally revealed that Kingdom Hearts 4 was in development. It’s no surprise that a new game is in development, Kingdom Hearts 3 had a pretty cliffhanger ending, and Melody of Memory goes even further, but in a recent interview with IGN, Sora’s voice actor Haley… Joe Osment stated that he didn’t actually know the game was in development. “I hope we can hear something about [Kingdom Hearts 4] Soon after, I think there were rumors that there was going to be another one,” the actor told IGN.

“I’m always the last to know because I’m the last step in the process. So hopefully soon I’ll be back in the studio and find out what’s going on with everyone.” As Osment noted, English dubs often is one of the last things done in Japanese gaming, so don’t worry because he doesn’t know it exists (he’s also more of a live-action actor now, so this is if he’s not up to date like the rest of us Update, which is understandable).
IGN did let him know that a fourth game is coming, and series director Tetsuya Nomura recently said he would be bringing the story to a conclusion. Osment responded: “You know, I’m sure [Nomura] There are great plans to end it in a satisfying way. I think sometimes it’s the best thing to do, even if you have something you love and you feel like you want to play it forever, to tie it up in a good way and not let it go beyond what the creator intended it to be Bar. I think that’s the way to go. Obviously, there are many, many hours of gameplay for people to go back and relive. ”
There has been basically no news about it since Kingdom Hearts 4, and a new mobile game called Missing Link is coming this year, but that game is also MIA. With a very important older mobile game also being removed from stores in August, it’s unclear what’s next for the series.
