ITEMS: Studio behind The Day Before kills Escape Factory for new project

day, escape, Factory, items, Kills, project, studio

The development studio Fntastic made a legendary belly landing with The Day Before; the title is even considered the biggest scam in recent video game history. But that didn’t stop the developers from starting another crowdfunding and now there’s even another project in the starting blocks.

Everything has an end, only the sausage has two. The developers at Fntastic should have followed this saying better. Because when The Day Before was the expected mega-flop and the studio closed its doors, that would have been the ideal time to stop. But apparently the temptation of quick money was too great.

Because in September 2024, the studio launched a crowdfunding campaign for their next game, Escape Factory. Ultimately, it is a poorly made clone of Fall Guys with stolen assets – data miners have even confirmed the latter charge. The financing was correspondingly modest, and today Fntastic canceled the Kickstarter campaign.

But don’t worry, loyal fans, the studio already has the next game in the works. This is called ITEMS and unsurprisingly it is said to be an action horror prop hunt game. In other words, players disguise themselves as everyday objects and have to be found.

However, there is still a lack of more information about this hot new title. The official homepage is largely empty and only the game’s logo can be found in the press kit. At least there was a posting on Twitter with a few very early character models. After all, no asset flip can be assumed, at least theoretically.

More information will be released over time on the official Discord channel. Exciting: Fntastic has not yet commented on financing. So the hand is not stopped yet, but what is not can still become.
