Highly anticipated by fans as a strong return to the Budokai Tenkaichi formula, Dragon Ball Sparking Zero risks disappointing French audiences.
The French branch of Bandai Namco has indeed shared some very sad news for French fans who can’t wait to play Dragon Ball Sparking Zero when it arrives on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series on October 11, 2024. Their immersion in this legendary work of the late Akira Toriyama and their nostalgia are in any case in danger of taking a hit.
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero will not have the same taste for French fans
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero promises to be the ultimate fighting game of this legendary shonen in many ways. Cell-shaded graphics using the Unreal Engine, spectacular gameplay, landscape destruction, repetitions of practically all known storylines, online multiplayer and split screen – Spike Chunsoft’s title seems to have the necessary Ki reserves to make everything explode. However, the most nostalgic French fans risk being disappointed by a decision by Bandai Namco in their regard.
In a message on their official X.com account, the publisher’s French branch recently announced the following sad news: ” Many of you have told us about your desire to hear your favorite characters in the game Dragon Ball Sparking Zero with their French voices. We sincerely thank you for your enthusiasm. However, the game will only feature the original Japanese and English voices with French subtitles.
The possibility of hearing iconic voices from our childhood such as Brigitte Lecordier (Gohan), Patrick Borg (Goku), Éric Legrand (Vegeta) and many other examples has thus disappeared. However, those who are most interested in the work of Akira Toriyama will find what they are looking for in the equally memorable original Japanese voices. Speaking of casting, the one for Sparking Zero promises to be gigantic. Which probably justifies the decision to do away with the French voices, to the regret of some.
