As you may already know, the massive Fallout 4 mod Fallout: London managed to recruit some big-name stars to supplement its core voice cast.
Baldur’s Gate 3 star Neil Newburn and former Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow (who became a household name in the UK for his emoji of shouting “Keep Order!” to shut up MPs) were arguably the most unexpected. So how did their cameos come about?

In an interview with iGamesNews, Fallout: London project manager Dean ‘Prilladog’ Carter revealed the details, and also talked about the release of the mod and the upcoming deleted questline in future updates.
“So the good thing about the delay we had to do because of the next-gen update is that while we were fixing systems, we were just constantly testing the game, and it actually just came from a stupid conversation between myself and Callum[Head Writer/Lead Scripter],” the modder recalled. “We were just sitting there and we actually already had a voice actor doing the voice, who was just part of the team, and we were like ‘Oh, wouldn’t it be cool if we had John Bercow do the voice?’ And they said, ‘Okay, let’s get in touch’, and we did, and he said yes.”
“He said ‘this is a very strange case,'” Carter added. “He wanted to know if this was a business, and we were like ‘no, we’re just volunteers.’ We had to explain what mods were, what Fallout was, and he said ‘yeah, sounds interesting,’ and then he sent some voice lines.”
Meanwhile, the FOLON team found itself in the opposite position when it came to contacting Newbon. “I’m sure my team would shoot me for saying this, but I don’t know who he is,” Carter told me. “I believe he actually reached out to us via Twitter and said ‘I’d love to be involved, etc.’ But we were getting a lot of messages like that and I just ignored it.”
“[Then,] I happened to be live one time and my team said, “Uh, why is Neil Newbon in your inbox?” I said, “Oh, I get a lot of them.” They said, “No, no, but it’s Neil Newbon.” I said, “Okay, I guess I’ll respond.” My team yelled at me and they said, “Please respond to this guy and get him on board.”
“We basically gave him a small role, a very small role. He asked for more, he loved playing the role of Barry Boat. The whole Barry Boat quest was basically Neil Newbon’s idea, because he wanted to do more on the project. So, we ended up having to write the whole quest because he wanted to do more,” the modder revealed, adding: “We had a lot of fun working with him.”
