I can say without fear that I am taking the last shovels of a very, very deep grave for GTA V and its Online mode. 2024 has three months left and 2025 is the date set by Rockstar Games for GTA VI. And if I give you the impression that you want to put this damned game in the coffin and kick it into the hole “too soon”, you have perfectly captured the tone of this introduction.
I’m tired of GTA V. I don’t say this in a bad way, but in the most tiring sense of the word. I would bet that even his own GTA Online he is tired. If he were a Lemming, he would jump off the first ravine he saw. That’s more than 10 years playing the same game. And yet, I return again and again. While the last few times have been disappointing due to the taxi driver and pizza delivery roles, the most recent one has been quite the opposite.
I have participated in a Car Meet again. It’s my favorite activity GTA Online and it’s not even official from Rockstar Games. It is true that the update Los Santos Tunners and private games encouraged this practice, but there are no official tools to carry them out as well as many of us would like.

Last Sunday I participated in a Car Meet again after two or three years. Whether in real life or in video games, these are car show events that are held around the world and at all levels, from legal to illegal. And it is not something unknown because you have seen them at least once in the saga Fast & Furious: United States, Brazil, Japan and the United Kingdom, for example. Personally, I have attended several in my city.
The Car Meets in GTA Online They work more or less the same as in real life. It is true that each group has its own rules, although they usually share some very basic ones to promote coexistence. For example, weapons are completely prohibited and armed vehicles cannot use their weapons. They can be free or specific, such as cars from the 2000s and/or muscle cars, among many others.
I am a moderator of a Car Meets group and I really enjoy these meetings, like any automotive lover who plays games. GTA Online. The behavior of the participants was exemplary on this occasion, so I was able to enjoy the cars on display. I don’t remember exactly the theme, but I did have to try several vehicles, as you can see in the gameplay that I share through a YouTube video.
We started in a small parking lot next to the beach. We filled all the seats and several participants had to find a good place for their cars. There were trunks, hoods and doors open so that music could be heard and the interiors could show off. And although not all the cars were to my liking, I admit that it was incredible to share an experience like that again in GTA Online.
After a while, we all took a route together and arrived at another small parking lot, this time more urban and sandwiched between buildings. It is a perfect place for these events because all the cars are visible and there is a gas station in front with a functional car wash. Drinks and food can also be purchased, as long as no player decides to raid it.
I was having a hard time deciding which car to take to the event, so I changed a few times until I arrived at the wild card I use in these situations: my vintage truck, perfect for transporting other cars. It was when another of the moderators (one with more money) dressed as a police officer and brought his patrol car to pretend that the police were monitoring the event, as usually happens in real life.
I reached for my cell phone to check the prices of police cars. I knew that Rockstar Games put a few in since the release of the Bottom Dollar Bounties update… and some of them must have been cheap. Mistake on my part. Everyone was running around two or three million dollars, even reaching four million. I turned off my phone and didn’t think about it anymore. The economy of GTA Online He has already taken enough years of my life through anger.
We moved once again. I was expecting a slightly longer route than the previous one. The condition was not to leave the city so that it wouldn’t be too long, but we literally drove two or three minutes. A shame because I wanted to take my truck. I usually close the formation to control the personnel and it is very pleasant to see the entire line turning the same curve, taking the same jump or going over the same bump.
We ended up in a port parking lot. This was much larger and allowed participants to burn tires and/or practice a little drifting without the risk of ending up crashing into the group of parked cars. I positioned my truck so that it closed off the back entrance, leaving a single entrance guarded by the police for those who wanted to enter and exit the event.
I think that GTA Online It always had the potential to be much more than a simple multiplayer, more than a map in which to act crazy and repeat missions until madness to get money. It could have been an incredible social experience… but it ended up falling far short of its capabilities. It’s like listening to Richard Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries and reacting with an emoticon.
