While some are still waiting to take advantage of Valve’s portable console, Gabe Newell is already ready for a Steam Deck 2. The company thus confirms that this is not just a first try.
B ack in June, Valve was proud to announce a Steam deck production ramp-up to fulfill existing pre-orders and to drive new orders. A first model popular enough for future iterations like a Steam Deck 2.
There will definitely be a Steam Deck 2 and beyond
In a brochure on the steam deck – sighted by GamingOnLinux above VGC – Valve ensures that there will be several models and thus a Steam Deck 2 in the future. But the current one is not abandoned and has the right to a long-term successor.
Steam Deck is the first in a new category of portable Steam gaming PCs. In the future, Valve will continue to follow this product with hardware and software improvements and iterations the release of new versions of the Steam Deck

Ahead of the Steam Deck 2, Valve may be considering multiple variants like a Pro model. Or even a lower-end console and therefore cheaper to compete with the Nintendo Switch? Anything is possible here. As mentioned above, Steam Deck and SteamOS are powered by Valve, which speaks of its machine as one “Multi-Generation Line”.
