If a device exists, you can almost guarantee that someone put Doom on it, and that’s exactly what happened with the Nintendo Alarmo.
Nintendo confused the world last month by announcing a new piece of hardware. It’s not a Nintendo Switch 2, or whatever the successor console will be called, but an alarm clock. Yes, Nintendo Alarmo is very real, and obviously very silly. An alarm clock entirely dedicated to Nintendo sounds and music? Of course, this doesn’t have anything to do with the panic of suddenly waking up and playing your favorite Mario track! It was, and still is, a strange piece of technology from Nintendo, but it had one feature that pretty much sealed its fate: it had a screen, which meant, hypothetically, you could put Doom on it. Now, someone has done it.

This man is Gary OderNichts, who claims to be a reverse engineer for the Wii U. Yesterday he shared a video on his personal Twitter account of running the classic first-person shooter game on Alarmo. This isn’t just a case of using it as a screen, you can see Gary playing the game using the little knob that Alarmo uses as a navigation input, turning it counterclockwise to move it to the left, turning it clockwise to move it to the right, using the device’s other buttons Take the shot. It’s obviously not a smooth experience, but hey, this is Doom running on a Nintendo Alarmo, what more could you ask for!

This is apparently just the latest device to run Doom on, as it’s become a time-honored tradition to have the game run on as many devices as possible – and yes, that includes devices like lawnmowers, Legos, and note-taking software Notepad . I’m sure there will also be more and more ways to run Doom, which will definitely confuse future generations/aliens in the wake of society’s inevitable destruction.
