game, only.., progressing

Crystal Dynamics is hard at work on the next Tomb Raider, and the studio can now count on a powerful ally.

Tentatively announced during an Unreal Engine 5 conference in April 2022, the next Tomb Raider is set to mark a new turning point for the series. Indeed, Crystal Dynamics has the ambition to link the different chronologies of the license and to convince all the fans. So Miss Croft will have a lot of work to do, especially since Shadow of The Tomb Raider, without being bad, has divided. But to help him in his quest, the American studio can now count on a new industry giant. Yes, the project is progressing.

Tomb Raider finds a publisher with big funds

It is indeed Amazon Games ( New world, Lost Ark ), who will lend a hand to Crystal Dynamics as Editor-in-Chief. If the studio is now owned by the Embracer group, since Square Enix gave it part of its western branch for a pittance, the studio hasn’t had a publisher to take care of distributing and supporting its next one Grave robbers. Embracer therefore used its proximity to Amazon to enter into a partnership. For now when the series Grave robbers appears to be the only one affected, this new deal between the two companies could herald big things for other Embracer licenses such as deus ex for example, who completely lost their publishing house after the takeover. So there might be progress on that side as well, but it’s too early to tell.

Crystal Dynamics and Amazon Games will therefore now join forces to offer the beautiful Englishwoman a new adventure. The two entities also say they are happy to be able to work together and Amazon insured that he will offer “full support” to Crystal Dynamics.

On the other hand, we have no further information to say, although the new editor assures us that we will know more soon. The next Grave robbers doesn’t even have a small release window and hasn’t communicated about its development for months. All we know is that several big names have joined the project, such as ex-Days Gone director Jeff Ross. Miss Croft is waiting.
