Announced as a complete surprise at the Xbox E3 2021 conference, the free content from A Pirate’s Life to Sea of Thieves was shown to reporters in a full presentation. We can tell you that after long minutes of discovery.
In fact, we were able to discover the content in detail during 1h30 A pirate’s life and ask our own questions to the developers. What to fill with information before posting additional content, program for the June 22.
Obviously, this won’t have escaped you, Microsoft and Rare have partnered with Disney to include content for the license. Carabiner pirate in the sea of thieves. As a marketing genius, the brilliant SoT student can finally meet his master thinker. So Mike Chapman, Creative Director of the game, told us about this major project with a certain movement. The content A pirate’s life was originally conceived as a tribute to the Pirate des Carabes attraction, which opened at Disneyland Paris in 1967 and 1992. The longing for the evocation of this attraction was clearly present in all developers who spoke about the project during this private presentation.
A stroke of genius
History, to go to the end of things, entire scenes of the attraction were recreated movement after movement in Sea of thieves, with the same characters and voices used for the occasion. Of course, we can’t repeat the attraction in the game, but all scenes will be visible at some point in the added content. From the skeleton captain’s warning to the drunks in the tavern spilling a barrel of rum.
Between ode and homage
In addition to the attraction, the content obviously chooses the film saga of the same name with the irreplaceable Johnny Depp and his iconic character of Jack Sparrow. The basic premise is simple: What if Jack Sparrow and part of his crew magically found themselves in the world of Sea of Thieves? Quite simply, we should look no further. The connection is made from the world of the dead in the movie (Davy Jones’ hideout) and the sea of the damned Sea of thieves which plays a similar role in the game and from which we can guess part of our death on the famous ghost ship. Jack Sparrow through a magical passage in Davy Jones’s cave is so in the fictional world of Sea of thieves
Of great intelligence
Mike Chapman promises a lot of content, and clearly one can expect a story almost as big in terms of lifespan as the fables of the original game.
The content in particular is the ability to introduce several new enemies, including sirens and thus underwater combat, crab men (fish, electricity and classics) and of course Davy Jones in person, as well as many other surprises like Davy Jones’ Kraken, which can be seen in the second film. Of course we will meet Jack during our adventure as he is the central figure of the content, but also part of his crew like Gibbs, Cotton and of course Pintel and Ragetti. In order to face the new threats, we will have the option to use the Trident of the dark tides,
A pirate’s life Plus, there’s plenty of new places to discover, all inspired by the Pirate des Carabes attraction and the movies. So we can admire the wreck of the Black Pearl and other still secret places. The world of Sea of thieves will also receive ester eggs around the world in connection with the license outside of the fables. And of course a number of cosmetic novelties for players and boats will be available for purchase. Eventually, The Prison Dog, the famous dog that holds keys between its teeth, will be among the new pets.
WE ARE WAITING FOR … WITH GREAT DEPRESSION!
Aside from the marketing genius, this content is a real breath of fresh air for Sea of Thieves, bringing real new content to a title that started going round in circles. Everything we could see on this DLC has been intelligently thought out and makes you want more. In short, a masterpiece by Rare that should appeal to film and attraction fans.
