The next iteration of the DC Cinematic Universe is underway, and while most projects are left behind, co-lead washington studio James Gunn is making sure his peacemaker The show survived the jump.
Look, we all know that much of the DCU is a bit pantsy. There’s good stuff here and there, but it’s mostly a mess that’s too hopeless to keep up with the behemoth that is Marvel. But you probably thought a full reboot meant a full reboot, didn’t you? Well, that’s not the case, because even though Peacemaker was part of the original DCU, Gunn has some plans to bring him into the new DCU. When a fan asked on Threads whether Season 2 of The Peacemaker would be different from the first due to the reboot, Gunn coyly responded, “You’ll have to wait and see how it turns out!”

But when another fan pointed out that a second season set in a different universe might be confusing and asked why not just make a new show, Gunn responded: “Because it’s my favorite thing to do, it’s is the biggest original Max show ever, and I have a way to get in without causing chaos.” I’m sure Gunn has a good enough idea of how to do it, but considering he’s in charge now, it sure seems like he’s giving got itself special treatment (although I do want to clarify that I don’t entirely think the rest of the old DCU should continue, it really wasn’t very good).
Overall, Gunn does seem to be on par with most people when it comes to the old DCU, as he’s recently been vocal about movies that just have cameos in them that make comic book fans point and scream, “That’s Chappie!” , even though Flash did exactly that last year. But hey, when you’re the head of DC Studios, I guess you can do what you want, right?
