we know Callisto Agreement Will revel in death, there are multiple violent ways to meet your death.games from amazing distance studiolooks to recapture the essence of Dead Space and really freak out its players, that’s for sure.
It doesn’t seem like everyone who might be expecting the title will be able to join December 2, the Japanese release of “Callisto Protocol” was canceled. The decision was announced through the official Callisto Protocol’s Japanese Twitter accountembedded below (apparently in Japanese).
Luckily, PCGamer has translated the tweet, which reads: “Our decision to modify the game to get a rating will not provide the experience players expect. Can’t get a CERO rating.”
CERO is Japan’s certification board, and in order for The Callisto Protocol to be rated and released in Japan, developer Striking Distance Studios and publisher Krafton had to make some changes to the game’s content.
Given the tweet from The Callisto Protocol, it appears that any modifications that need to be made will compromise the developer’s vision for the gaming experience. Additionally, people who pre-ordered the game across Japan will receive a refund. I understand not wanting to make changes to the title for the most authentic experience, but for all the Japanese excited about the release of the Callisto Protocol, it’s a real shame.
It’s unclear what elements of the game make it exceed CERO’s certification requirements, but considering the title will be filled with “murder desserts,” and the developers find themselves drawing inspiration from “real-life examples of horror and gore,” it doesn’t make sense. Not surprisingly.
Callisto Protocol, which releases on December 2, puts you in the role of Jacob Lee as he must survive a variety of infected prisoners in a space prison called Black Iron. Our preview proclaimed it to be a game that insists on surprising you, and considering it’s being directed by Dead Space creator Glen Schofield, it’s probably the scariest game released in a long time.
