Jeremy Renner wants to return as Hawkeye

The Disney+ Hawkeye series (2021) has Clint Barton in the perfect position to settle down with his family and bow out, but Jeremy Renner isn’t done yet, despite his near-fatal accident in January 2023.

The veteran Marvel Cinematic Universe actor, who has been very busy in the TV realm lately, told Entertainment Weekly (via Variety) that despite the fallout from the accident, he’s still surprisingly ready to take on another Marvel challenge, saying: ” I’m always competing. I’m going to be strong enough, that’s for sure. I’m going to be ready. All these people that came to my bedside, they were with me throughout my recovery, so … If they want me, they can have me. It’s going to be something.”

For those who don’t know the full story behind the accident: In January 2023, Renner was run over by a 14,300-pound snowcat, resulting in “blunt force trauma to the chest and orthopedic injuries, including 8 ribs and 14 Broken bones, left tibia fracture, left ankle fracture, right clavicle fracture, right shoulder fracture, etc. ” The fact that he lived to tell the story is amazing.

Renner is already hard at work filming the third season of The Mayor of Kingston, so it’s no surprise that he’s already setting his sights higher, even daring to take on a very physical role again. With two Avengers movies set to hit theaters in the near future, there may be a chance he could return alongside Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop if Marvel can overcome its current predicament.

It makes sense that Renner would want to remain loyal to the studio, which doubled down on the least popular member of the original Avengers team and trusted him to carry the bulk of Age of Ultron , delivering one of the most thrilling scenes in Endgame and leading up to a Disney+ series that will open up the street level of the Marvel Universe and finally bring back Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.
