Deadpool and Wolverine aren’t the only adaptations we’re looking forward to this year. In October, the sequel to one of Warner and DC Studios’ most successful films, Joker 2Unlike the first one, this one will have a more musical focus, with Lady Gaga as a major guest, which has not been to everyone’s liking.
However, the casting director wanted to calm the situation, assuring that Lady Gaga will undoubtedly be the big surprise of the film. In a panel attended by Comicbook, Francine Maisler She explained that the decision to bring Gaga in was director Todd Phillips’s. When she saw her perform for the role, she was amazed at how well she did.
“She’s so good in it, guys. She’s going to blow your mind. I didn’t suggest Lady Gaga. It wasn’t my idea. It was Todd Phillips before me. But I will tell you, she’s really amazing, and really good. I watched her and was so surprised. I mean, we all knew what she could do in A Star Is Born, but I was like, ‘Oh, well, that’s right up her alley. ‘ Something she could do and be real. But this… Man, she’s good. Joaquin blows your mind, but for her to be able to keep up with him and be real – and not just disappear off the screen for the role and the performance – proves that she’s good.”
Maisler says that not only is she very good, but she can keep up with none other than Joaquin Phoenix, an actor who reached the top with his performance as Arthur Fleck. Everything points to her performance being legendary in every sense.
We’ve only seen a small preview of the film, but it’s enough to know that this sequel will compete head-to-head at the box office with Marvel’s first and only film in 2024. Joker: Madness for Two will hit theaters around the world on October 4, 2024.
