After a setback with Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Ruined Realms late last year and a few side projects that didn’t pay off, Frontier Developments announced that they would be refocusing on simulation games for the foreseeable. The British video game developer has done well over the years with games like Planet Zoo and Planet Coaster, but the two Jurassic World Evolution games have far exceeded expectations, so the second Three games are of course coming soon.
Frontier made the announcement out of the blue last week, with the company acknowledging that its ongoing partnership with Universal has been a huge win so far. Note that the press release doesn’t exactly confirm that their next game is Jurassic World Evolution 3, but given their recent shift in strategy and the series’ sales to date (including DLC), it’s hard to imagine developing The Chamber is suddenly working on another type of Jurassic World game.

While the first Jurassic World Evolution had many shortcomings – many of which were addressed over time through free updates and paid DLC – and lacked many key features, such as flight and sea prehistoric animals, It laid a solid foundation, and Jurassic Park/World fans were more than happy with it after 15 years of waiting for the spiritual sequel to Jurassic Park: Genisys.
Evolution 2 marks a big step forward, introducing further customization options for non-terrestrial animals, parks and terrains, more game modes and a wealth of new content based on all six films, plus later content drops dropped, and even brought in animated series from the underrated Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous on Netflix. Its follow-up, Chaos Theory, is coming soon, and it could be the key to making the third Evolution game standalone alongside the 2025 movie.
Frontier hasn’t even finished updating Jurassic World Evolution 2 yet (we just got the damn Meg!), but the most dedicated gamers and Jurassic fans, myself included, are already wondering what’s next from the studio. What action can be taken in one step. I mean, if you own all the DLC, the current version of the game already contains pretty much everything we’d want from a management sim in the series. But not every systemic change is for the best (everyone hates scientist management). Is a fourth film, directed by Gareth Edwards, enough of a creative excuse to reconstruct the entire story?
The answer is probably no, but Universal’s plans for this powerful franchise don’t stop there, and we’ve heard in the past that 2022’s Jurassic World: Dominion is just the end of one era and the beginning of another. With dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals now in the wild, moved by questionable people, and created in the labs of more companies than just InGen and Maslany, the possibilities are endless… as long as There is a story worth telling. However, the series has just become a perfect playground for video games, and it seems that players prefer Jurassic games, and the next one should be Saber Interactive’s Jurassic Park: Survival.
Many casual viewers and even fans may choose to skip Chaos Theory as a simple animated show aimed at children, but Camp Cretaceous has shown some pretty mature character in all its adventure action, and some The clip is very intense. Barring a twist, Chaos Theory has upped the ante by killing off one of the previous series’ main teen characters, and the trailer paints a much darker picture. The thing is… those who have experienced the Netflix and DreamWorks animated series know that it adds a lot to the larger saga, and Evolution 2 already uses some of that. This cannot be ignored.
At the moment, the general feeling is that Jurassic World Evolution 2 is the definitive Jurassic Park/World game in terms of content and options, while the technical improvements (leaving last generation hardware behind) and engine A major update could bring big improvements to the game. With creative systems and artificial intelligence simulations, the most discerning fans and players will be looking for exclusive content, not just remasters of the first six films.
While there’s no doubt that all of this will remain an important part of the series as a whole, I believe Evolution 3 needs to embrace the present and future of the series, making a strong case for its existence rather than simply resurrecting the familiar past. Also: Please don’t add any more confusion, thank you.
