it turns out justification developer Avalanche Studio Worked on the Iron Man game for two years before it was eventually cancelled.
We may never hear about a million and one canceled games due to nondisclosure agreements and more, but Avalanche Studios co-founder Christofer Sundberg recently revealed in an interview with MinnMax that the studio is working on an Iron Man game Unfortunately, that was cancelled.
According to Sandberg, Disney and Marvel came to the studio to inquire about the Iron Man game, which later began development that same year. But, according to Sandberg, Disney wants to cut development time by a full year, which isn’t exactly the norm given the industry’s historical delays.
This led to the need to increase the budget, as the studio needed to hire about 70 to 80 new employees to complete the game. The big question is what will happen to these new hires if they get hired, as Avalanche needs to start a new project quickly after the Iron Man game to justify the hire.
“If we agreed, it would completely destroy the studio [to Disney’s terms]” Sandberg said.
Unsurprisingly, Sandberg didn’t really share any specific details about the game, but Iron Man can only do so much, although he did compare the combat to the Batman Arkham game, which was meant to be open world , and Iron Man, unsurprisingly, humans could have flown anywhere.
There are rumors that EA is currently working on an Iron Man game, so if the rumors are true, those desperate to don the red and gold suits may be in luck, but as always, they’ll have to take it with a grain of salt.
