Pokémon is one of the most popular franchises in history, but strangely enough it has not had many adaptations to the cinema. That is why the film Detective Pikachu had so much expectation since its announcement. Until then, one of his best-known films, Mewtwo Strikes Back, had delved into the origin of the legendary Pokémon and possibly one of the most tragic stories of the entire franchise for the lives that perished there. In fact, the original version of the movie was cut. In it appeared other clones that were made of the Kanto's initial Pokémon. Why was it cut? Now you will understand.
According to the user Dr. Lava, these clones never appeared in the games, but in the original version of Mewtwo Strikes Back. These clones were created by Dr. Fuji in his research for cloning his dead daughter, but none survived this experiment and they all died except Mewtwo, as you will know. He has rescued the scenes where the 3 clones of Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur are seen and that they did not survive. Pokémon is a friendly franchise that goes far above these sad stories, although the origin of some Pokémon like Misdreavus is really macabre.
Anime-Exclusive: Starter Clones
These clone variants never appeared in the games – only in The Uncut Story of Mewtwo's Origin. They're created by Dr Fuji in an effort to clone his dead daughter, but can't withstand the cloning process… so they all die. Only Mewtwo survives. pic.twitter.com/GjecUacCpe

It is no exception, because the franchise has many disturbing stories. Therefore, it is surprising that they wanted to eliminate those scenes where they saw the clones of Kanto enjoying before the fatal outcome.
