news culture Keanu Reeves is already exploding at the box office with “John Wick 4”.
Keanu Reeves knows no boundaries! After KOing all his opponents in the first three John Wicks, he smashes the box office with John Wick 4.
John Wick, a hit series
The John Wick saga doesn’t have much more to prove, it has to be said that since the very first work released in 2014, the license has been almost unanimous with the press and the public. The numbers speak for themselves as John Wick, first of the name, raises the bar by raising more than $86 million worldwide. But the same film is pulverized by its sequel, which rakes in nearly double that. In just a few weeks, John Wick has grossed over $171.5 million, just that. We thought it was going to be a tough score, but that was without counting on Parabellum, the license’s third feature film, which grossed over $327 million worldwide brings in.
With such results and such fascination with the character of John Wick among fans, we expected John Wick: Chapter 4 to be expected at the turn. But Chad Stahelski’s film is doing even better than expected.
On the way to a new record for John Wick 4?
For its first weekend of exploitation, John Wick 3, currently the license’s biggest hit, grossed a total of $56.8 million in the United States. Of course, that record was beaten afterwards!
In US theaters alone, John Wick: Chapter 4 grossed over $73.5 million in just one weekend of release. That means it performs better than Creed 3, a film that had every right to be a smash hit, but also than Shazam! Rage of the Gods, which grossed $56.3 million and $30 million respectively in a weekend. The Marvel machinery remains on its untouchable side with a total of $120 million raised on American territory for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. As a reminder, the latter were entitled to an extended weekend.
If you’ve never seen the John Wick movies and want to catch up before heading to the cinema to watch the fourth chapter, note that the first three episodes of the saga are currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
