Shadow the Hedgehog is a guy of very few words, but Paramount Pictures has made sure that the ones he utters in Sonic 3 The Movie leave us breathless: after weeks of rumors and speculation, the same Keanu Reeves will lend his voice to the anti-Sonic on the big screen. And we are not going to deny it: it is quite a signing for an exceptional cast of voices. And what about the Spanish versions? Let’s go by parts.
First things first: the information on the signing of Reeves, actor in cult films such as The Matrix o John Wick, as well as Johnny Silverhand himself in Cyberpunk 2077; comes directly de The Hollywood Reporter through different sources following the first preview offered behind closed doors at the recently held CinemaCon. Anti-Sonic comes to the big screen
First introduced in the video game Sonic Adventure 2 from Dreamcast, Shadow is a hedgehog capable of rivaling Sonic himself in speed. However, and despite his abilities, his personality is very different: far from the optimism, joviality and dynamism typical of t he SEGA standard-bearer, Shadow is inflexible and severe.
Without giving too many details, in the original games Shadow was presented as the result of a series of experiments to create the Ultimate Way of Life. His design is very similar to Sonic’s with dark fur, red locks, and huge powered shoes that increase his top speed along with his ability to control Chaos. In practice, his gameplay is almost identical to that of the blue flash.

To be fair, Shadow’s appearance won’t come as a surprise to those who saw Sonic 2 The Movie. Despite this, Paramount is aware that he will be one of the big hooks for this new installment, gradually showing material related to his appearance or how he will end up entering the scene and what his motivations will be.
All in all, we assume that the eternal rivalry between Sonic and Shadow will be one of the driving forces of the plot, while the comedy and evil will continue to be served by Carey who has turned the character of Robotnik into something of his own.
What do we know about the voices in Spanish and the premiere of Sonic 3
The presence of Keanu Reeves in the third film of Sonic It will be something that we will see on screen through the animators’ references, but we will only hear if we opt for the original version with or without subtitles. However, the participation of this actor reduces the voices that we could hear in theaters.
- Keanu Reeves’ usual voice in Europe is that of the sensational Sergio Zamorawho we remember as Simba in The Lion KingLegolas in The Lord of the rings or Joaquin Phoenix in Joker or most of his movies.
- As for Latin America, the person who has worked with Reeves’ voice the most times is Rene Garciathe voice of Vegeta in Dragon Ball in addition to being John Wick or Neo in The Matrix.
