It’s still unclear how Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 will end, and the game’s producers didn’t reveal any more details in a recent interview.
When Final Fantasy 7 Remake came out in 2020, those who weren’t spoiled by Square Enix’s spoiler trailer quickly discovered that the game wasn’t actually a straight remake, but rather presented in slightly different ways. Some changes were more drastic than others, and this year’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth followed suit, offering some differences of its own (while also keeping some things largely the same).

But with inconsistencies about what is and isn’t different, fans are obviously wondering how the as-yet-untitled third game will play out, and in a recent interview with Anime News Network, producer Yoshinori Kitase answered fans’ questions about how different the story will be.
“We do hear a lot of different speculation from the players, like ‘Oh, how different is this story going to be from the original?’ I would say I don’t think it will be,” Kitase said. “We’ve always kept the original in mind, and I don’t think this storyline will betray the fans of the original. “We felt like we could only do these things now in the remaster, which could bring new joy, new satisfaction to players who play this game 27 years later. We hope players will be able to experience what this will bring very soon.”
Last month, in another interview, Kitase also said that the third game will be “exactly what fans have been waiting for,” which is definitely a bold statement, so let’s hope Square Enix starts showing it off soon.
