In a series of follow-up tweets, Mercer also detailed, “I’ve been a huge fan of The Legend of Zelda since I was a kid, and Ganondorf has always been one of my favorite antagonists… so much so that I pictured this green skinned who threatened my web series more than a decade ago!”
In the tweet, Mercer included a photo of him playing Ganondorf, as well as an adorable photo of him as a kid dressed as Link. Mercer then thanked the Nintendo team for having him and said he couldn’t wait to make fans proud.

If you’re not familiar with Mercer, Dungeons & Dragons fans may know him best as the chief creative officer and dungeon master of the web series Critical Role. Beyond that, he has a long and pivotal history as the voice actor behind some of his best roles.
Mercer voiced Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 6, Chrom in Fire Emblem Awakening, Minsc in Baldur’s Gate 3, and Yusuke Kitagawa in Persona 5 . That’s the bare minimum, as he’s also had roles in games like Fallout 4, Overwatch, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Death Stranding, Fire Emblem Engage, and more.
Mercer is also slated to voice Leon Kennedy in the upcoming Resident Evil: Dead Island film, having previously voiced rookie cops in Resident Evil: Damned and Resident Evil: Vendetta.
He certainly has the experience to do justice to the Ganondorf character. What do you think of the casting? While you’re at it, what do you think of fans’ desire for Ganondorf’s newly revealed official artwork?
