Kingdom Tears Isn’t On Wii U, But This Guy Let’s Pretend It’s Anyway

Guy, Isnt, Kingdom, lets, Pretend, tears, Wii

The Legend of Zelda: Tear of Kingdoms is definitely not on the Wii U, though one player shared their absolutely unsuspecting copy of the game on Nintendo’s old console.

Like Twilight Princess before it, Breath of the Wild is a multiplatform release, available on the ill-fated Wii U and the highly successful Nintendo Switch. That’s because the game was designed for the Switch predecessor, and technically even has the unique feature of being able to view maps and other stuff on the gamepad. The Legend of Zelda: Tear of Kingdoms, on the other hand, was definitely not designed for the Wii U – but one player mysteriously showed off their copy on Reddit for the console.

Well, well, apparently they just made a custom piece of box art out of the Switch box art from Tears of Kingdoms, and slapped it in the Wii U box (not like that sky blue plastic, hey). Unfortunately, at least one reviewer was tricked into thinking it was real, but I can assure you it’s not; the print quality on the note isn’t that great if you zoom in, but if you don’t look closely, it’s is very convincing.

[TOTK] I just managed to get a copy! 🥳

While everyone jokes that games are hard to run on the Switch, Tears of Kingdoms generally does well on the hybrid console, an impressive feat given its sheer size. It’s the size that makes it questionable to run on the Wii U, but apparently it’s never going to be because that thing is dead like the dodo, especially with the eShop closed.

This huge world can be a little scary though, so if you’re not sure where to go first, we’ve got a guide here to help. We even have a Skyview Tower location guide so you can actually see where you’re going!
