Cult developer Hideo Kojima wants to position himself more broadly with his studio in the entertainment sector and has now confirmed the establishment of a new division.
The developer of Death Stranding will therefore be expanded to include a new department that will specifically focus on the film, TV and music sectors. Kojima Productions has now officially announced this.
The new division should therefore be located in Los Angeles, California. The team there is led by Riley Russell, who joins Kojima Productions after having worked for PlayStation for 28 years. According to his statement, the new department will be on the move with creative and talented professionals in the areas of TV, music and film as well as in the family gaming area.
The aim is “to expand the reach and awareness of the brands that are under development at Kojima Productions and to make them an even bigger part of our popular culture”.
Yoshiko Fukuda, Business Development Manager at Kojima Productions, emphasizes that the new division is also adapting to the rapidly developing world. One wants to bring one’s own stories beyond video games into new forms of entertainment and thus open up additional ways to communicate with fans and cast a spell over them.
Hideo Kojima himself had already indicated in 2019 that he wanted to become more active in the film sector in the future. It is not yet known which projects the newly founded division will tackle first.
