The corona virus is spreading worldwide and is now also having more and more consequences in the gaming sector. With Kojima Productions, another company has now withdrawn from one of the most important events in the spring.
The Game Developers Conference will rise again in March this year. In spring, the event is generally considered one of the most important in the industry in spr ing, but in 2020 it seems to be losing its shine. The reason for this: the corona virus.
After Sony and Oculus had previously withdrawn their commitment for the GDC 2020, Kojima Proudctions has now jumped on. Via Twitter the creators of Death Stranding have said and have announced that they will stay away from the GDC due to health concerns related to the corona virus.

The GDC is increasing this year from March 16 to 20. Kojima Productions should – originally in the person of mastermind Hideo Kojima – be seen and heard on two panels. A first event was scheduled for March 16 with AI programmer Eric Johnson, and a second panel with Hideo Kojima as the host was scheduled for March 19. Both events must now be canceled.
Although much-anticipated, unfortunately this cancellation also includes Hideo Kojima’s session on the 19th and Eric Johnson’s session on the 16th. (2/2)https://t.co/K6FJtq5Tpx

What would have been shown by Kojima Productions at the GDC remains open at first. The chance would have been high that there would have been fresh information about the planned PC version of Death Stranding in the summer. In addition, Kojima recently caused a stir with a mysterious new teaser in the run-up to the event.
