During the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, it was revealed that Kojima Productions will be working with Xbox Game Studios on the yet-to-be-announced game. What we know so far is that this is a game that Hideo Kojima “always wanted to develop” and will use cloud technology to create “an Xbox video game like never before.”
Given the news, some fans are particularly concerned about what this means for Kojima Productions’ relationship with PlayStation. Kojima Productions assured stakeholders on Twitter that they are an indie studio first and foremost, “As an independent creative studio, #KojimaProductions will continue to create for our fans. We will explore the possibilities of games, movies and music through a platform that evolves over time and technology.”
After we announced our partnership with Microsoft on cloud technology, many people asked us about our partnership with SIE. Rest assured, we will also continue to have a great relationship with PlayStation®.#small island production https://t.co/mVOELwDuk9

The initial tweet was followed by “Many people have asked us about our partnership with SIE after we announced our partnership with Microsoft on cloud technology. Rest assured, we will continue to have a great partnership with PlayStation® as well.” Phew. I mean, considering that Norman Reedus accidentally confirmed Death Stranding 2, which is Sony’s IP, and Kojima didn’t deny it, it’s fair to say that both Kojima and PlayStation are good.
It’s an exciting time to say the least for Kojima Productions and their fans. Death Stranding 2 is likely in the works, rumors have surfaced that Kojima is working on a new horror game, and we have this new Xbox exclusive to look forward to – Is Kojima’s rumored horror game and an Xbox partnership related? , we haven’t found out yet.
Only time, and possibly a flurry of unreal marketing from Kojima Productions, will tell.
