Destructoid reports in an interview Hideo Kojima Collaborated with Japanese game magazine Famitsu for the New Year. In it, he talked about Kojima Productions’ next project, which he described as a game that will blur the boundaries between media, just as the industry is preparing to do the same soon.
The selection in the interview is quoted here:
“A big title, a new challenge title. As the boundaries of entertainment disappear in the near future, I want us to take a step forward this year and challenge different media and expressions.”
As we all know, Kojima loves movies and hopes to make them one day, so people have to wonder whether this new project will sneak movies into his game in a more direct way. Maybe this is the rumored horror game he has always wanted to do. Or it may be completely out of the left realm like death stranding. Either way, mixed media is an exciting direction for Kojima’s next plans. Hope we will soon see what it is and how challenging its development will be.
Kojima recently released the director’s cut version of “Death Stranding”, which perfectly and imperfectly showcases all his glorious excesses. There are also rumors that “Death Stranding 2” is under negotiation. Whether this is Kojima Productions’ next project is anyone’s guess. No matter what it is, let us hope Kojima really understands what it is, unlike death stranding.
