Death Stranding 2 is coming and is almost even more mysterious than its predecessor at the Game Awards 2022. Hideo Kojima once again relies on powerful images, which, however, raise more questions than they answer.
Nevertheless, an important message, not only for friends of the first part, but also for the medium itself. It’s not for nothing that Kojima is considered a creative powerhouse, pushing the boundaries of the medium and driving innovation.
However, not much is known about DS2 yet. But the first trailer speaks (cryptic) volumes. And look how much good Sam Porter Bridges has aged:

Death Stranding 2: Kojima shows a tentacle baby in the trailer and raises even more questions
What do we already know about DS2?
How and when is it coming to PC? Death Stranding 2 will most likely appear exclusively for the PlayStation 5. It was like that with its predecessor. Kojima and Sony are close after the game designer’s relationship with his former employer Konami broke up.
The first part appeared not even a year later but also for PC. We assume that it can take up to a year again before PC players can also play the second part. In the trailer above, you see the PS5 logo at the end, nothing else.
What else do we know about the game? Hardly anything apart from the ambiguous images from the trailer. Hideo Kojima said he doesn’t want to go into detail just yet and would rather wait for discussion about what’s being shown.
We see familiar characters like the protagonist Sam Porter Bridges from the first game, now visibly aged. The Bridge Babies continue to play an important role. A mysterious red-masked menace and intimidating machines herald new dangers.

The Director’s Cut is also interesting for skeptics
After the original release, the predecessor Death Stranding was followed by a director’s cut, which we examine in detail in the GameStar test above. The new edition addresses important points of criticism and can thus please skeptics of the very leisurely gameplay, but offers hardly any worthwhile improvements for connoisseurs.
What’s your reaction to the Death Stranding 2 announcement? Can you hardly expect more from the surreal story or was the first part crazy enough for you? Let us know in the comments!
