Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess: Capcom gives you a DLC

With Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, Capcom recently presented us with an unusual mix of genres. Somewhere between hack-and-slash and tower defense, you hack your way through a world inspired by Japanese legends. The courage seems to have paid off, as the company can now release its first success story.

As Capcom has officially announced, a whopping 500,000 players have jumped into Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess since its release on July 19, 2024. Although the company does not break this number down by platform, it can be assumed that many people found their way into the Japanese mythological world via the Xbox Game Pass.

To celebrate this milestone, Capcom also has a gift for you, namely a free DLC set. This includes three Mazo talismans, including one based on the legendary action-adventure game Okami.

  • Mazo-Talisman: Jubilee – Equip this talisman and watch the villagers near Soh break into a dance of joy.
  • Mazo Talisman: Dancing Crane – Transforms Soh’s normal attacks into a hypnotic dance accompanied by fireworks.
  • Mazo-Talisman: Amatarus – With this talisman, colorful flowers bloom under Soh’s feet during the journey.

A new update for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess has also been released. This appropriately introduces a new sorting function for the Mazo Talismans and fixes a few minor bugs.

If you’re interested in the game’s development process, there’s good news: Capcom has launched a video series that gives you a behind-the-scenes look. The first episode shows how photography, 3D miniature models, digital effects and more shaped the game’s look.

Are you in the mood? Then you can get started on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. According to our review of Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, it’s worth it, as our colleague Denis explains: “You’ll be amazed when you watch dance choreographies as a demon gate is closed, and you’ll feel a slight shiver of horror with curious eyes when you spot completely crazy monster designs that are based on old Japanese folklore. Colors, shapes, movements – this game is just too beautiful to be ignored, and small stylistic devices such as depth of field and skillfully used color contrasts put the icing on the cake.”
