If you like the film Big Trouble in Little China
If you don’t say anything, you’re probably younger than 37 – that’s how old the film starring Kurt Russell is. The Hollywood star has now appeared in an interview with the website ComicBook.com about a hypothetical sequel and also stated the conditions for it.
Only with John Carpenter
With his now 72 years, it is questionable whether Kurt Russell would still be suitable for the role of the trigger-happy Jack Burton. The question of age doesn’t even come up in the interview linked above, because for Russell himself there are two completely different conditions that come to mind:
You can never say never. I mean, if someone writes a great script that’s better than the first one and has something new to say, I don’t know, then we can give John Carpenter a little pat on the wrist and say, Come on, John! Let us do this.

With John
Kurt Russell says none other than director, actor and composer John Carpenter. At 75, he is also at an advanced age, but is far from retired. In 2022 alone he was involved in three productions with Firestarter (music), Halloween Ends (music) and Studio 666 (actor).
The age, the script, the direction – all these aspects count for little if the money isn’t right. And this may also be a big catch for Big Trouble in Little China 2. The first film from 1986 had a budget of an estimated $25 million just $11.1 million at the box office again and is therefore considered a commercial flop. It was only through later releases on VHS and other media that the action film was able to gather a large number of fans.
Our other film and series articles on GameStar.de are guaranteed not to be a flop:
Would you be happy about a sequel to Big Trouble in Little China or do you think Kurt Russell is too old to make a comeback as Jack Burton? Which film with him in the lead role is your personal favorite? Are there any other old cult films that you would like to see continued? Feel free to write us your thoughts in the comments!
