  • The Hessian motorhome manufacturer La Strada is introducing a new product: the Regent E.
  • A special feature of the compact Sprinter is its large beds.
  • These can also be converted into seating.

The downside of bulky camping vehicles: They spend large parts of the year standing unmoved in the driveway or garage. Cars are used for everyday trips. Compact mobile homes, often based on VW buses or Fords, try to reconcile everyday life and leisure time.

The 5.95 meter long Mercedes-Benz Sprinter also scores points in this category. The Hessian conversion company La Strada takes the base with the star and builds the new Regent E on it. The motorhome is consistently designed for use by two people and even finds a space in the supermarket parking lot.

The Sprinter is only prevented from entering most parking garages due to its height. In terms of engine, the 3.5-ton van comes with 170 or 190 hp, automatic transmission and, if desired, all-wheel drive. The configurator also provides the most common modern assistance systems.

Abandonment of classic dinette is necessary

Although La Strada relies on single beds in lengthwise format, this Sprinter also has a body extension at the rear. The crew can rest on 2.0 or 1.85 meter long single beds. The cold foam mattresses are mounted on individual disc springs. A double bed can also be created after a short conversion. This then has the dimensions 1.95 x 1.37 meters.

But the single beds can be configured in another way. If required, a seating group for two people can be created in just a few steps. A comfortable seat is built into each foot end of the bed using upholstered elements and the table is attached in the middle between the beds. The breakfast table is ready.

The La Strada lacks a traditional dinette. In addition to the bed conversion in the rear, there are still rotating driver and passenger seats for chatting or eating together. Behind the front seats is a shower cubicle with a toilet. Opposite there is a kitchenette with a refrigerator, sink and two-burner gas cooker. Practical: Instead of gas bottles, the Regent E uses a fixed 16-liter gas tank under the vehicle floor.

Price and availability

The new La Strada Regent E costs at least 105,000 dollars. It is now available from Can be ordered from the manufacturer. The first models are due to be delivered towards the end of the year. We will be presenting you with numerous other new motorhomes here. An alternative, also based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, is the X-Pedition 600 MQ from Weinsberg.
