What does a Blade Runner when there are no replicants left to hunt? Annapurna Interactive will respond in Blade Runner 2033: Labyrintha video game that takes place right between the 1982 Harrison Ford film and its recent sequel Directed by Denis Villeneuve. What better day to announce it than with Indiana Jones in theaters and the new trailer for Dune 2 freshly served?
Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth is a 3D adventure game with the very strong Cyberpunk aesthetic of the original films and, at the same time, an unexpected return of the franchise to videogames after a margin of 25 years since the last (and masterful) adaptation. And, at the same time, an interesting plot piece from the background of the work as a whole showing the consequences of the event known as the blackout.
In fact, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth inherits elements from both films but is, in turn, an extension of Blade Runner: Blackout 2022, the animated short film Shin’ichiro Watanabe and prequel to Blade Runner 2049. Giving rise to the very premise of the video game: during the Blackout, many lost everything, and the protagonist, a Blade Runner, only lost his job.
The disappearance of the replicants, human-like androids, left those agents specifically trained to hunt them out of employment. However, and as the trailer makes clear, the services of this ex-Blade Runner will be required once again.
Along with the trailer itself, Annapurna Interactive has shared the first official screenshots of Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth which, in essence, are images taken from the footage in which some elements are accentuated, such as the fact that the action takes place again in the futuristic dystopia of Los Angeles 14 years after the original film.
However, the Steam page is already enabled, anticipating that it is a 3D Exploration Adventure that will give special importance to the plot and narrative elements.
As we discussed at the beginning, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth will be the return of the franchise to video games, being the Blade Runner from 1998 (the last raid recently remastered) one of the best exponents of PC adventures of its time. long, A wonderful mirror in which to reflect.
Of course, we do not know if we will play Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth This same year or we will have to wait until 2033 as indicated in the title: Annapurna Interactive has not set a release date nor has it established platforms beyond the fact that it will be released on PC and consoles. In any case, you are welcome.
