Path of Exile: In the trailer for PoE 3.19 you build your own dungeons
Every three months, the hit action role-playing game Path of Exile gets a free expansion. On August 19th it’s that time again and you can look forward to tons of new weapons, skills and other innovations.
But the biggest highlight is the new league season: In the Kalandra Challenge League you build your own dungeons and provide powerful pieces of jewelry her.
Kalandra League lets you build dungeons
The upcoming league is all about the character Kalandra, whose name PoE pros have definitely heard of – after all, the rarest item in the game, the Mirror of Kalandra, which allows you to duplicate an item, is named after her.
On your way through the campaign and endgame maps, you will regularly come across the so-called mirror boards, on which you can build your own dungeon: you can place random tiles here on a map, which represent different encounters and fights.
The difficulty of the areas depends on how many tiles they are from the entry point, with rewards scaling accordingly. So if you want the toughest fights and maximum loot, you’ll want to create a long, winding path from one corner of the grid to the other. Once the panel is completely filled, you can open a portal to the lake and fight your way through your self-built dungeon.
Each trip to the lake will be deadlier than the last: With each attempt, you get a larger panel to fill in, or a series of more difficult encounters. You also unlock perks that allow you to further manipulate the board, repeat decisions or even completely remove unwanted options from the pool of possibilities.
The rewards on the high tiers of the lake offer plenty of room for experimentation: You will often get enchanted trinkets with strong advantages and disadvantages here, as well as a mirrored version of them with the positive and negative properties reversed. There’s also the ability to mirror, distort, and maximize existing rings and amulets – at the risk of ruining their stats.
What else awaits you in PoE 3.19
- A total of four new skills (three active, one passive) come into play.
- 14 new unique items come into play and over 100 old items are adjusted
- Three legacy league mechanics (Archnemesis, The Beyond, Harvest) are being modernized from the ground up.
- After there were no balance changes in the last league, this time there are hundreds of adjustments again – including the completely renewed Trickster class.
The complete Patch Notes can be found on the official website.
What about Path of Exile 2?
Path of Exile 2 has been quiet for a long time – and it will remain so for the time being. Grind Gear Games has now announced that the first ExileCon since the beginning of the corona pandemic will take place at the end of July 2023.
In just under a year there should finally be fresh information about the successor and anyone who wants to be there on site can even play in a beta version themselves.
