I recently had the opportunity to check out an indie game called Last Stop developed by the developer Variable State. This is a story-rich supernatural adventure game set in today’s London.
As the only person in the iGamesNews team living in London, I am most qualified to give it the Londoner’s seal of approval. Check out the video below to get my first impression.
You play three different characters (John, Mina, and Donna), and their stories are all woven together in one way or another. You can play any of the three characters in any order, but you must play all three characters to get to the next part.
It’s exciting to see the story unfold in this way. Obviously, I can’t say too much, because this game is basically just a story and nothing else, but what I can say is that it’s smart, thought-provoking, and weird and interesting. But not ridiculous.
As an old-fashioned adventure game, the gameplay here is limited to moving from point A to point B, dialogue options, and interactions that promote the development of the story. But it works.
What I want to say is that they did not choose to sound like the voice actors of Jason Statham and Idris Elba, which makes me feel very warm. Not everyone in London sounds like this, so I’m glad they caught all kinds of sounds.
I summarized everything in more detail in the video, but to make a long story short, I really like playing Last Stop.
Should you play too?
If you like games full of drama and strong stories, then you can. It’s easy to play so many moments when you breathe out or say “ohhhh shit!” Honestly, I can’t say anything more, because it will ruin your game. Play it and see how different worlds collide and how supernatural elements work.
Last Stop was released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch on July 22. For more games coming this year, please go to our video game release date page.
