Riot Games has reached a new milestone with its games. League of Legends and the like have recently cast a spell over so many players as never before.
The success story of League of Legends and the various spin-offs in the world of Runeterra just doesn’t want to end. Developer Riot Games announced the achievement of a new milestone via Twitter.
Most recently, a whopping 180 million different players logged into one of the Riot Games games in the world of Runeterra within a month. A large part of this is likely to continue to relate to the popular MOBA League of Legends, but the online card game Legends of Runeterra, the Auto-Battler Teamfight Tactics or the mobile MOBA League of Legends: Wild Rift are also part of the Runeterra- Games.

The number becomes all the more impressive when you consider that the 180 million players don’t even count the popular shooter Valorant, which was released in June 2020. This has recently seen continuous growth – thanks to regular updates and a now respectable competitive scene. Although there was no specific update on the number of players in Valorant, the title recently had more than 14 million active monthly users.
The 180 million players can also be put into a comparable context in other ways: Valve, for example, announced in its review of 2020 that it counts 120 million active monthly users – and the men behind Steam are no small players on the market either.
