Lee Sang-hyeok is generally considered to be the best League of Legends player ever. The e-sports professional from Seoul is of course better known to most as Faker and this is the nickname he has now as first professional ever inducted into the Hall of Legendsthe brand new League of Legends Hall of Fame.
To celebrate this inclusion, an event all about Faker is starting in the game. This includes skin packages, or rather “Faker collections”, which you can buy in the shop. However, these collections are now causing an outcry in the community. Because for the most expensive version you have to put about 500 dollars on the table
500 dollars for a package
In detail, the packages are three different variants with different contents and prices. Here is a brief overview of the three packages. The prices are rough estimates, after all, you have to spend the in-game currency Riot Points, which can only be converted into dollars with difficulty. For the rough overview, we have the In-game calculator used. You may also be able to get the packages cheaper.

As mentioned, the prices refer to the in-game calculator. If you cleverly buy the available RP packages, you can get some of the collections a little cheaper. For example, the signature collection for around 440 dollars.
In addition to the collections, fans can also Buy an Event Pass for 1,950 RP (approx. 16 dollars), which contains further cosmetic rewards related to Faker. Faker receives a share of the proceeds.
But whether it’s 500 or 400 dollars, the community is not enthusiastic about the prices for these packages. On Reddit There are various threads where people are complaining about Riot charging such high prices for these packages.
Elara_thanasia points out in a comment that you could also buy a PlayStation with this money:
$400 is a macro transaction. That costs as much as a PS5.
The user 4_idiots_and_me also points out that the price alone is not the reason why many fans are disappointed. It is also about not being able to support Faker because of it:
The main reason League players are angry, aside from the price, is because the skin is a collector’s skin to recognize Faker’s legacy. The GOAT of esports. There is no one more famous. And it feels like shit knowing you can’t support Faker’s legacy just because Riot put an insane price tag on it.
What do you think about these new Faker packages and their price? Do you understand the whole thing or will you never understand how someone could spend so much money on it? Write it in the comments.
