League of Legends: Smolder – that’s what the new champion can do!

At the start of the new year 2024, League of Legends also has its first fresh champion, Smolder. We’ll tell you here exactly what this one has to offer!

Riot Games is starting the new year 2024 at full speed! Right at the beginning of the year, a new champion awaits you as part of Patch 14.3, who goes by the name Smolder and will once again expand the already extensive roster of characters.

Smolder is a young Camavor royal dragon who learns to control his abilities with the help of his mother. Searching for royal dragons, Noxian beastmasters found and stole a young dragon in the fallen kingdom of Camavor across the ocean. The Dragon Mother set the kidnappers’ ship on fire in her attempt to rescue him, but in the chaos of the battle he was lost and washed up on the shores of one of the rugged islands south of the capital. There a boy discovered him and gave him the name Smolder.

One day while playing, Smolder started a fire that burned down an entire forest, causing his mother to finally find him again. Under her supervision, Smolder now learns to control his burgeoning abilities. Smolder is still a young animal, but his powers should not be underestimated. He will play this in the bot lane as an ADC in the future.

Smolder’s abilities read as follows:

• Passive Skill – Dragon Training
  Ability hits against champions and killing enemies with Super Fire Breath grant Smolder a boost to Dragon Training, which increases the damage of Smolder’s base abilities.
• Q – Superfeuerate
  Smolder breathes fire at his opponents. This ability evolves with stacks and gains additional effects such as area damage, damage over time, and an execute effect.
• W – Hatschi!
  Smolder emits a flaming sneeze that deals damage and slows. Champion hits trigger an additional explosion.
• E – Flatter, flatter, flatter
  Smolder takes to the skies. He gains movement speed and ignores terrain for 1.25 seconds. While flying, Smolder attacks the enemy with the lowest health.
• R – MAAAMAAA!
  Smolder’s mom breathes fire from above. It deals additional damage and slows enemies at the center of its fire. Smolder’s mom also heals her son when she meets him.

According to Lexi Gao, Lead Producer for Champions at Riot Games, Smolder wanted to create an ADC that had an easily accessible skill set. The champion will initially be available on the PBE server from January 9th and will then come live to Summoner’s Rift with Patch 14.3.
