After the recent resurgence of Skull & Bones, Ubisoft’s pirate game that was lost on the high seas, there are also increasing indications that another game with an uncertain fate is returning. Dead Island 2 was announced back in 2014, but then disappeared from the scene for a long time.
The zombie survival game has probably risen again. Insiders first promised a reveal in 2022 and now an Amazon listing accidentally reveals new details about the game. You can find out which other big games have almost been forgotten and what will become of them in our article:

Leaker Wario64 pointed out on Twitter that Dead Island 2 on Amazon can be pre-ordered. Among other things, you can see new screenshots and the box cover:

A release date was also revealed: Am February 3, 2023 it should finally be time. However, this date is probably one of the information that could most likely change. Until an official reveal you should treat the date with caution.
The additional information about the gameplay and other details that were revealed in the game description are probably safer. This has since been removed – the same applies to the release date. Here’s what the description of Dead Island said:
- Venue and background: The location is Los Angeles, California. Our character is infected after a zombie bite, but is probably immune to the virus. In fact, we may even be able to use the infection to our advantage and become stronger. As the story progresses, we then find out what is behind the outbreak of the virus and what we have to do with it.
- fights: The fights in first person should be particularly brutal, bloody and intense. We can choose between many weapons and

Select. - Characters and Skills: We can play one of six unique characters. Each of them has a special personality and different dialogues. In the course of the game we learn a wide variety of skills and can redistribute our skill points at any time and try out different builds.
- Zombie Types and Behavior: zombies should

react to you. There are said to be dozens of different species that use their own attacks. There are also hundreds of variants of them. - Pre-Order Bonuses: If you buy the game before the release, you will probably get different weapons, a weapon perk and more.

What was it that took so long? This question might pop into your head if you’ve heard that Dead Island 2 has apparently been in development since 2014. Of course we can’t look behind the scenes during the production of the game either, but it can also be seen from the outside that there were enormous difficulties with the zombie survival game.
We were able to play Dead Island 2 at gamescom 2014, but the version from back then probably doesn’t have much to do with today’s game. Because after an initial shift, the responsible developer studio was fired. The project landed at a new studio, was in turn wrested from it and is now being developed by Dambuster Studios.
The publisher repeatedly asserted that Dead Island 2 was not dead. And now it really seems like the game has risen from its hasty grave and is teetering on release.
