The new »adventure system«

So you can probably play autobattle mode on your mobile device. It is said to be an optional extension, the missions in their original form should still exist.

This is how the WoW car driver is supposed to work

The mode is said to include all the classic features of other autochess games, including the following:

  • You should five allies can choose, each with special skills.
  • You should be able to set them up on a genre-typical, divided field.
  • There you step against another team automatic fighting at.
  • A combat log should describe the course of the fight.

The published Datamine features animations for melee and ranged attacks, healing, and magical projectiles. There is also a list of about twenty possible allies.

The mission table could have something to do with it

That the mission table is returning was confirmed in a video interview by the well-known Twitch streamer Sloot with Blizzard's game director Ion Hazzikostas. The exact form in which the feature is presented is not yet known. It could well be that the autobattle mode runs over the mission table.

This is supported by further statements from the interview linked above: The mission table should be something that players can do on the side, not a central gameplay feature. Blizzard also wanted to offer new opportunities for players.

Blizzard already has a car dealer

It would not be the first time Blizzard introduced an autobattle mode for one of their games: Battlegrounds, a similar expansion for the card game Hearthstone, appeared. Developers like Riot Games and Valve have also launched their own car drivers, and Blizzard may want to get their foot in the door here.

It could also be the case with the alleged new mode is an already deleted feature. That would be another possible explanation for the data found. Blizzard only recently warned of such remains from development in a blog entry.

MMO-Champion also made it clear that the new system still had to be developed further. We will probably only find out the exact details when Shadowlands is released later this year.
