At the end of next month, more precisely on February 25, 2022, Elden Ring, her next title in the Soulsborne genre, will be released. But what comes after that? The first leaked screenshots show that instead of a gloomy fantasy setting there should be battles with giant mechs again.

What exactly is From Software working on? In the gaming forum ResetEra, the user Red Liquorice recently revealed the first details about the next game from the Dark Souls developers. According to his own statements, he took part in a customer survey by the developer, in which screenshots, videos and information about a new part of the Armored Core series were shown.
According to the leaker, several potential names of the successor are said to have appeared in the survey, including Armored Core 6, Armored Core VI or just Armored Core.
What kind of game could Armored Core 6 be? The Armored Core games are third-person shooters in which the players control giant mechs – the eponymous Armored Cores. The titles in the series have so far appeared on the console exclusively for PlayStation and Xbox, the fifth and so far last offshoot of the series was published in 2012.

The first leaked screenshots show a number of ‘Mechs clashing in both long-range and hand-to-hand combat in snowy industrial areas. According to Red Liquorice, the gameplay in the game scenes shown is said to have been reminiscent of Dark Souls – especially the boss fights:
The boss fight looked pretty much like Souls – the long range shots reminded me of Virtua On, that’s my point of reference, I’m not a mech fan and haven’t played AC games. The player character in a white ‘Mech walked up close to the larger robot boss and fought with an energy or lightsaber that looked like something in Souls.
The player in the same white ‘Mech seemed to be following a few other players in the distance (co-op?) And they were running (maybe flying close to the ground) through a snowy area towards a great wall or gate, that looked like Souls too , the vastness of the architecture, but it wasn’t a castle, more like a worn metal / stone wall or gate. It was pretty short.
When will Armored Core be released? A possible release date for Armored Core 6 is of course not yet known – after all, the game has not yet been officially announced.
