Lego and nintendo have announced their latest Mario set, this time focusing on the one and only Donkey Kong (and his family).
The partnership between Lego and Nintendo has been slowly expanding over the years, with NES sets and a very fun Mario set. Now that the pair have confirmed they’re finally here, for your show: That’s right, the Kongs. There are four new sets in total, including Donkey Kong’s Treehouse Expansion Set (£57.99/$59.99), Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride Expansion Set (£94.99/$109.99), Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam Expansion Set (£20.99 /$26.99) and the Rhino Lambi Expansion Pack (£8.99/$10.99).
All are expected to release on August 1st, each with a different Kong member. If you’re feeling a little grumpy, you’ll be happy to hear Kranky Kong appear alongside the main episode, Donkey Kong’s Tree House, and if you want to hear some good tunes, Funky Kong pairs Diddy with Diddy in Kong’s Minecart Ride. They’re also all available to pre-order now if you want to guarantee they’ll be added to your collection.
It looks like each set features Mario, Luigi, and Peach figures, and based on the floating musical notes in the promo images, they seem to have some sort of musicality.
This isn’t the only video game-themed LEGO set the brick producer has announced recently, as a new official Sonic the Hedgehog set is coming soon. The set looks great and puts the blue pig in the hamster ball thingy, allowing you to launch him into the set. Honestly, it’s nice to see them emphasize his speed in such a creative way. Plus, that Tails-based biplane set is adorable.
